From Conventional to Microfluidic: Progress in Extracellular Vesicle Separation and Individual Characterization (Adv. Healthcare Mater. 8/2023)

چکیده
Single Extracellular Vesicles Physical and biochemical characterization for single extracellular vesicles (EVs) has been gaining more attention disease diagnosis. With the development of micromachining technologies, microfluidic chips can analyze EVs with precise manipulation, low cost high portability. In foreseeable future, combination microfluidics gradually individualizing them will be a meaningful direction. These considerations are reviewed by Daxiang Cui, Hossam Haick, Ning Tang, co-workers, in article 2202437.

Background: Cholesterol oxidase (CHO) has various clinical and industrial applications. Recently, microbial CHO have received a great attention for their wide usage in medicine. Here, taxonomic characterizations of isolated strain from soil, optimization of the conditions for CHO production and biochemical characterizations of produced CHO enzyme were described. Finally, CHO gene was cloned int...

Metamaterials: Snapping Mechanical Metamaterials under Tension (Adv. Mater. 39/2015).
By exploiting snap-through instabilities, D. Pasini and co-workers design a damage-tolerant mechanical metamaterial that snaps sequentially under tension, thereby accommodating a very large deformation up to 150%. On page 5931, they describe how the nonlinear mechanical response of the metamaterial can be robustly programmed by tuning the architecture of its unit cell.
